it’s that time of year again…

October 25th, 2006 by RM · 2 Comments ·

… headed up to the Capital Region last weekend to prep for the Halloween celebrations. It’s a strange feeling, knowing that I won’t be playing host to this year’s costume-required festivities. This year, dasmegabyte has the only show in town - and i’m sure that, like years past, it will be a great time. Still, I’ve hosted an annual Halloween party at the Central Avenue Penthouse each of the last three years (and attended Halloween parties there, in the years before I took up residence). The times are indeed a’changing.

With the impending Halloween festivities, there are certain decisions that need to be made. I’ve already come up with a costume idea that, just like in years past, will only be recognized by about 15 percent of party attendees. However, it gives me a great reason to buy a military-style gas mask… so let the guessing game ensue.

Along those same lines, there’s also a decision that needs to be made about jack o’ lantern patterns. As in years past, I’m mining the treasure trove of stencils found at zombiepumpkins.com for this year’s design. She already finished working on the first of this year’s pumpkins with her father, and unveiled the “V for Vendetta” jack o’ lantern last night. With our impending move to Tarrytown (yes, I’m moving again), I’m leaning toward the Headless Horseman stencil, but it will probably just come down to how much time I have to carve the pumpkin Friday night before the party. Pictures will certainly tell the tale.

Might I remind the reading public that Mr. Marshall’s Halloween hijinks are only on hold for this year. They will surely be revived. Especially given where we will be living!
