notes and recent work: 10/09/07

Apologies for the lack of updates lately. Things have been in a state of… “flux”… on the homefront. Explanations to follow at some point, I assure you. As a form of penitence, I offer you this picture of myself from my August birthday party (a surprise event that was tremendously successful and for which I will owe Jessica and my family for many, many years) :

Then, as a matter of pride, I offer up this picture of the sushi Jessica and I made… because dammit, I’m proud of how well we did with it:

My camera finally passed into the digital hereafter a few months ago, so until I can afford another, I’ll be forced to continue presenting my life vicariously through the photos of another. If anyone has any suggestions for what type of camera I should purchase or where I should purchase it, by all means, let me know. Portability is the primary concern, but the availability of a range of settings and options is a close second. As close to a manual as one can get with a little digital snapshot number, basically.

Oh, and last but not least, some recent work:

Searching for a Permanent Home
The Boys and Girls Club in Tarrytown seeks long-term future in village
The Hudson Independent - October 4, 2007

I feel like working on the community news beat is so valuable for getting in touch with the place you live. Even if it’s just a single story each month, it gets you closer to your surroundings and lets you know what’s out there. I feel like I’m an active member of the local scene when I do this type of work.

But enough for now. More to follow… at some undefined point.
