In case you haven’t been following my Twitter feed (but i can’t imagine why not - it’s riveting), I had the good fortune of being handed a ticket to The Verve last week at the Madison Square Garden Theater. The show was phenomenal - one of those performances that makes you question every other event you called a “rock show” prior to that point. Seriously.
After that show, I felt like I had spent my entire life calling walnuts “strawberries” and then someone came along and gave me a real strawberry and I was like, “Sweet mother of miscommunication, why the hell didn’t someone give me a strawberry years ago?”
Well, you get the idea, I’m sure.
But just in case it’s still unclear, here’s a transcript of my Twitterings that night. I think they tell a funny story about the band’s level of performance, the room’s level of noise and my level of wine consumption over the course of the night. The word “epic” comes to mind… on all accounts.
Okay, about ready to pack up, shut down and head into the city tonight for The Verve… 03:53 PM April 28, 2008
The Verve rocked my face off tonight. Literally, my face is gone. Departed. It has been rocked away. I have no face. Thank you, The Verve. 11:28 PM April 28, 2008
What was “hearing” like? What are these things you call “sounds?” With the rocking my ears have received tonight, I have forgotten. 12:15 AM April 29, 2008
It’s the morning after the show and my ears are *still* ringing… pretty sure there’s some permanent damage there. What? 09:07 AM April 29, 2008
