Busy times these last few weeks, as ComicMix is growing like, well… something that grows very quickly and requires a lot of my time. With the rapid growth of the site, I’m actually looking for more freelance bloggers and other all-purpose word jockeys to join the editorial team - so if you know anyone who might be interested, point them in my direction (rick [at] comicmix [dot] com).
Last week was an especially crazy one for Jessica and I, as one or both of us had something planned late into the night every night for 5-7 days straight. We both fell into a routine of waking up, clocking in, working a full day, clocking out, then clocking in for whatever we had scheduled that night, clocking out at some horribly late hour, then passing out for a few hours and starting all over again the next day. Early in the week, Jessica agreed to do a night shoot for a Twix commercial, and I ended up having to pick her up at 3 AM in Manhattan - and we didn’t get a full night’s sleep until just this last weekend. We both have a terrible tendency to overbook ourselves, and we end up paying for it in the long run.
With everything going on, I had to skip two weeks with my webcomic interview series on ComicMix - which really bugged the hell out of me. I simply couldn’t find the time to schedule, conduct, transcribe and edit an interview at any point, and there were just too many outstanding responsibilities and looming time triggers for projects to justify taking time out to do an interview. Things are moving quickly with ComicMix and the site is evolving in leaps and bounds every day. Most of the time, I find that I’m giving something a nudge and momentum takes over soon after - but then I’m running like hell to try keep up with it.
On those rare occasions that Jessica and I have some free time, we’ve been blazing through Season 3 of the new Doctor Who series. I’ve already watched the full season and am well into Season 4, but she’s seeing it for the first time - and this one of the few series I don’t mind re-watching. Most of the time, I can’t be bothered with re-watching episodes of anything, as there are too many episodes of other series mired in my backlog of media. Now that I’m working on these weekly “Doctor Who in Review” features for ComicMix, though, it helps to reacquaint myself with certain episodes. Those reviews are really a labor of love for me, as I grew up watching the original series (during Tom Baker’s run as The Doctor). While it seems like sacrilege to say so this early on, I have to admit that David Tennant is really making a case for himself as the best Doctor to cross the threshold of the TARDIS.
As you might have noticed from the feed on the right side of the site here, I’ve been fairly active in Twitter lately. This is due to two factors, really: One, the Twitter application on my Blackberry is ridiculously easy to use; and Two, I think that I’m getting to the point where micro-blogging is really my only option, given the schedule I’m trying to keep. Now to take those realizations and make them work for the site here - that’s the tricky part.
On that note, don’t be surprised to see some glaring tweaks to the site here in the coming weeks. I’m planning to give the code a little roughing-up and try to move things around a bit. Hopefully I won’t screw anything up too horribly. Keep your fingers crossed.

No kidding bro…I was triple booked this week. I had a Rice a Roni gig Monday, a quick Kikkoman spot, and a little spot for the Chinese government where I play an Olympic protester getting beaten. It’s part of their educational diplomat series that they send around to local Chinese elementary schools. Nice redesign…In Hong Kong, it’d be number 1.:)
