wedding daze and scripture gambling

May 31st, 2008 by RM · 4 Comments ·

have a cee-gar...Jessica and I are heading off to a pair of weddings this weekend, bringing our tally of nuptial events attended to something like 20-25 weddings in just over three years.

We really need to start culling our social circles.

One of the things we like to do at weddings now is to make outrageous bets on the scripture they’ll read at the wedding ceremony. Will it be the one about God using Adam’s rib to make him his partner, Eve? Will it be the “Love is patient” one? To be honest, I keep hoping to attend a ceremony where they use this one:

How fair and pleasant you are, O loved one, delectable maiden!
You are stately as a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters.
- Song of Solomon 7:6-7

Yes, this is what we do to pass the time at weddings now. Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

Another element of our frequent-guest status that’s worth nothing: Since I only have a few sets of clothes that I enjoy wearing to weddings (and not very colorful taste), it’s becoming hard to tell from photos which wedding we’re attending. Without Jessica in the photo (since she can identify the wedding by the dress she was wearing), every wedding picture we take looks almost exactly the same.

See for yourself - these are three different weddings over the past three years:

I’ve told Rick before ‘Blue’ is the color for him. Now I know what to get him for his birthday. Thank you.
