I’m finally in San Diego, folks. Now it’s time to assess what ComicMix has been doing in my absence and figure out how to jump into the fray with such a late start. I’ve been off the grid for nearly two days now without much ability to monitor the site’s coverage or even get on the ‘Net at all, so I don’t know what to expect.
By the way, here’s a round-up of what Jessica and I endured to get to the West Coast:
- 4 different airplanes
- 15 hours spent in airplanes (only 6 of those hours were spent in the air)
- 5 hours in various airports
- 1.5 hour of driving (1 of which was spent in severe, half-expecting-cows-to-fly-across-the-highway hurricane conditions)
- 12 frantic calls to various airlines with a tone that ranged from pleading to “i will burn down your home and everyone in it if you don’t get me another flight tonight”
- 1 twisted ankle (not belonging to Jessica or myself)
- 1 airport “security breach” incident (also not involving Jessica or I, surprisingly)
- 6 tear-filled breakdowns by Jessica
- 3 threats of arrest (directed at me)
- 5 threats of FAA, Consumer Protection Board and Media involvement (directed at them)
- 2 unnecessarily loud comparisons of airport security measures to a game of “Where’s Waldo” while standing in front of a TSA official
- 1 full-speed sprint between gates
- 4 episodes of Doctor Who (the “Library” two-parter, “Midnight” and “Turn Left”)
- 67 text messages
- 2 gin and tonics (chugged the gin bottles, sipped the tonic)
- 1 vodka and cranberry
- $60 in baggage fees (still arguing for a refund on the canceled flight baggage charges)
