A while back, I put out a call for suggestions of road-trip music and ended up with about 8-10 new albums that have found their way into regular rotation in my car and apartment. Ryan put Jamie Lidell on my radar, Dave found a way to get me to listen to Vampire Weekend (I had been avoiding them for many months due to all of the hype and anticipated let-down), and various other Twitter and Facebook friends turned me on to bands and albums I might not have otherwise encountered.
This time around, I’m looking for “packing up and moving out” music. What do you listen to when you’re cleaning your house/apartment? What album do you play when you’re taking pictures off the wall and moving books from shelves to boxes?

I like to have Ari Hest playing whenever I’m cleaning. His stuff is pretty mellow and his lyrics have substance to them.

I’m a sucker for Robert Miles, although it may not be your cup of tea. ;)

"Pack up your troubles in an old kit bag and smile, smile, smile"?
"Moving Right Along" from The Muppet Movie.
And for the direction you’re moving, "New York, New York" by Mr. Sinatra.

I’m personally a fan of Johnny Cash when I’m cleaning/packing up stuff.
