Oh, SNAP! It’s an anthropomorphic librarian rap battle!
Rene Engstrom has created a World of Warcraft guild for fans of her Anders Loves Maria webcomic. Since I’m far too aware of my addictive personality to ever, EVER create a WoW account, someone will have to fill me in on how it goes. Also, you might not want to get too attached to ALM, either.
Gary Tyrrell of Fleen is raving about The Great Outdoor Fight, the Dark Horse Comics collection of a long story arc from Chris Onstad’s Achewood webcomic. I’ll admit that Achewood isn’t a regular read of mine, but after checking out Tyrell’s review of the collection, that’s going to change.
Read The Great Outdoor Fight, perhaps most urgently if you are not a fan of Achewood. The characteristics of the strip that keep new readers from casually getting in on the game (and this is a weakness of Achewood — it took me four or five attempts before I really got it) are entirely absent here. The characters, the unique voicings, the utter batshit insanity that’s fully and completely committed to in service of the story are all here.
Comic Foundry’s Laura Hudson has posted a nice interview with Leigh Walton of Top Shelf 2.0.
It’s an “everything must go”-style sale over at Goats.com, so just in case you were waiting for the right time to buy someone (like me, for example) a set of the original Goats paperback collections, now’s your chance!
Moving your own stuff sucks, and moving somebody else’s stuff is even worse… but sitting back and watching someone else move can actually be pretty entertaining – so we’ll just phone in our congratulations to Meredith Gran (Octopus Pie) on breaking in her new studio space!
Heidi MacDonald and The Beat are becoming a pretty great hub of information regarding the non-payment woes of webcomic publisher WOWIO. Noted webcomic guy T. Campbell has provided his own assessment of the situation with regard to the projects he’s not getting paid for, while ComicList provided the initial spark of info (gleaned via random twitterings) that ignited the blaze this time around.
Wes Molebash and You’ll Have That made the move to www.yhtcomic.com official yesterday with the first comic published exclusively at his new home on the InterWebs. Make sure you update your bookmarks, RSS feeds and what-have-you to make sure you don’t miss out… and of course, best of luck to Wes with the new website!
