- The prescient politics of The Big Lebowski. – By David Haglund – Slate Magazine – "Watching The Big Lebowski in 2008, it becomes clear that appreciating Walter is essential to understanding what the Coen brothers are up to in this movie, which is slyer, more political, and more prescient than many of its fans have recognized. Perhaps that's because Walter, with his bellowing, Old Testament righteousness and his deeply entrenched militarism, is an American type that barely registered on the pop-culture landscape 10 years ago. He's a neocon." (via Jessica)
- A4 PAPER CUT – "My paper works have been based around an exploration of the relationship between two and three dimensionality. I find this materialization of a flat piece of paper into a 3D form almost a magic process – or maybe one could call it obvious magic, because the process is obvious and the figures still stick to their origin, without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is also an aspect of something tragic in most of the cuts." (via Rene)
- Splash Page » DJ Caruso Confirms Multiple ‘Y: The Last Man’ Films, Ponders Casting of Yorick, 355, Dr. Mann and… Agent 711? – I'm down with Shia LaBeouf as Yorick, but a bit nervous about the mention of Agent 711 in the story. Interesting stuff, as 711's chapter of the "Y" story was one of its weirdest, for sure.
- ComicMix Radio: Joss Whedon Spills The Back Story – ComicMix news – It looks like ComicMix has posted the audio from the interview I conducted with Joss Whedon back in July. It's always interesting to see when and where stories get picked up, as I actually posted the text of this interview more than a month ago (and it was linked pretty heavily), and now the audio is being picked up by the same sites that linked to the text. One would think that it's old information by now, but since it's been recycled and presented in a different medium this time around, does that make it new? Either way, it's there for you to hear.
