So… some of you might know that I get paid to write about comics and the comic book industry. Yes, some of you might be well aware of the fact that covering comics is actually my job. I know — it amazes me sometimes, too.
What you might not know is that the holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year in the comics biz. Why? Because I get a big kick out of the annual holiday-themed issues and holiday cards I receive from comic book creators and publishers. Seriously, I love ‘em all.
What I really dig, however, is the bizarre holiday-themed stuff. you know — the one-off stories that pit Santa Claus against aliens or zombies or what-have-you?
In today’s installment of Holiday Weirdness, I’ve posted a few issues and holiday messages that crossed my desk here that, I believe, truly make the holiday, well… special.
First up? A very special holiday issue from publisher Top Cow Productions:

… And nothing says “Happy Holidays” like an “Evil Dead” version of Santa Claus getting a belly full of buckshot courtesy of Deadite-fighter Ashley J. Williams:

Along the same lines, here’s the holiday message I received from Dynamite Entertainment, publishers of the aforementioned Army of Darkness holiday issue (you can check out a preview of it here, by the way), as well as one of my favorite series currently being published, Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys.

In case you’re wondering, that’s retired Russian superhero “Love Sausage,” and why he has that name should be, well… obvious.
Finally, here’s more holiday-themed comics. It’s my gift to you… and clearly, I’m a cheap bastard.
Come back tomorrow for the second-to-last day of my “7 Days of Holiday Weirdness.”
