Hello, 2010. Have We Met?

Well, there we go.
The silence is broken.
That first update after a long break is always the most difficult, so with 2009 in the rearview mirror and a new year just getting started, here’s a recap of sorts to kick off what I hope to be a far more active year here on the site.
PREVIOUSLY, ON MINDPOLLUTION.ORG…
First and foremost among last year’s happenings, Jessica and I were engaged and tied the legal knot in ’09 — with a full-on ceremony planned for the early part of 2010. My one requirement for the festivities? A reception that includes a stuff-wrapped-in-bacon station.
This September marked my first full year as the editor of Splash Page, MTV’s comic books and comic book movie blog. The site’s been a tremendous success thus far, and I’m hoping to cast the net a little wider with the site’s comics coverage in 2010.
While the updates have been few and far between here on the site, I’ve been making up for it on Twitter (on both my own Twitter account and the Splash Page account) and Facebook (which is actually fed by my Twitter updates, but I check it and respond to comments there fairly often). I’m hoping to feed the site here with some of those updates, too.
This year also marked a pretty great run for me on the interview side, including chats with some of my favorite celebrities past (Chuck Norris, Stan Lee) and present (David Tennant, Kevin Smith, Thomas Jane, the cast of “Lost”).
NOW, FOR THIS YEAR….
I have a few things I’d like to do this year — some of them a very real possibility, some of them might require a little more effort, and some of them are fully in the “potential” realm at this point. It’s probably best to let time determine which ones end up in each category, but here’s what I’m hoping to accomplish this year:
Keep a record of everything I read, watch and listen to in 2010, in order to look back on the year with more context a year from now, and keep a running tally of both my media input and reactions to each project.
Integrate Twitter, Flickr and other social media systems I’m active in with MindPollution.org, and find ways to make posting easier — and hopefully, more frequent.
Work more efficiently, and make 10- or 11-hour workdays a rare necessity rather than the norm.
Follow up a great wedding with a great, relaxing vacation — preferably somewhere I can spend several days on a beach, reading and sipping drinks that come with their own umbrellas.
Finally get some art on the walls of our apartment. (I have a ridiculous amount of art waiting to be framed, but I’ve been too busy these last few months to make it happen.)
Get the rest of my Hunter Thompson sketchbook scanned and posted.
Spend more time writing what I want to write instead of just filling slots in a schedule.
And there you go.
Heck, this wasn’t so bad. Maybe I can make it a habit again.
