It’s a little later than I planned, but here’s a list of most of the notable books I read, movies I screened, and television I watched in January 2010. I’ve decided to keep track of this information from month to month for a few reasons.

First, I think it will be helpful at the end of the year when it comes time to look back on 52 weeks of media and pick the “Best Of” for the year. I’m also hoping this will give me an overhead view of the media I absorb over a year, so that I can identify genres or subject matter I’m avoiding (unintentionally or otherwise), and exactly how much reading, gaming and movie/tv watching I’m doing (and if I should be doing more… or less).

With comics, I read so many throughout the normal work week that I’ve only included collections and the notable first issues, arc introductions, or one-shots I read, and left out the random issues I zip through over lunch, etc. The same applies to TV series — I only include the notable episodes (pilots, premieres, finales, etc).

Also, I’ve only included the books and games I finished each month, so a novel I start in one month and finish in the next only goes toward the second month’s tally.

I might post reviews for some of the categories, or some self-analysis, as time goes on — but for now I’m just putting the raw data out there.
