Jar Jar in Carbonite and more from Toy Fair 2012…

February 16th, 2012 by Rick Marshall · No Comments ·

The second half of my report on Hasbro’s Toy Fair kickoff event is now up on Newsarama. In it, I describe more of the fun stuff coming up from the team responsible for the Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Transformers toys — including a special Jar Jar Binks figure that might actually be worth owning (and not using for target practice).

Here’s an excerpt from the report:

The first truly big announcement, though – both in excitement generated and actual product size – was the reveal of the Trade Federation MTT. The massive transport vehicle will be available in the fall and will come with 20 battle droids (four articulated, 16 posed) that can be deployed automatically with the push of a button, as well as an Obi-Wan Kenobi figure.

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con will feature yet another Star Wars exclusive, and the reveal of this year’s exclusive generated a lot of interesting buzz. The 2012 Comic-Con exclusive will feature a set of figures in special packaging that recreates a “lost” line of classic figures. One 3.75-inch figure from each of the six films will be included in the set, as well as a special Carbonite Jar Jar figure. Yes, you read that correctly – the extra figure will be a version of Jar Jar Binks encased in carbonite.
